Pink Ribbon Foundation India & India Turns Pink Global Launch.

On Wednesday, 26 August 2026, New Delhi opened a new chapter in the fight against breast cancer. Pink Ribbon International and India Turns Pink jointly launched Pink Ribbon Foundation India at the Constitution Club of India, Rafi Marg, under the banner “Pink Ribbon Foundation & India Turns Pink Global Launch.”

The hall was dressed in pink. So were the people on stage. The message was simple and urgent: early detection saves lives; women’s health is national wealth.

The launch is not a ceremonial partnership. It establishes Pink Ribbon Foundation India as a national platform for awareness, prevention, screening, research and support. The Foundation is the Indian affiliate of Pink Ribbon International (Pink Ribbon Inc., New York) and works on the ground with India Turns Pink as delivery partner.

Why this launch matters

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India. Too many diagnoses still come late.

India Turns Pink has worked since 2013 with the mission “Early Detection Saves Lives.” What began in Chennai grew into a national movement of free screenings, airport campaigns, college drives and community education.

Pink Ribbon International, founded in New York in 2008, funds research and programmes across 96 countries, with at least 85 cents of every dollar directed to research.

Together they now have an Indian foundation — a Section 8 not-for-profit — to take that work to scale under one banner: India Breast Cancer Free. The movement aims to reach 3.5 crore women across India.

Who was in the room

The programme was led by P.A. Ananda Kumar, Founder and President of India Turns Pink, with Walter Scheffrahn, Founder and Director of Pink Ribbon International, and Fionnuala Shannon, Director of Global Operations, together with India Turns Pink office-bearers including IT Secretary Annamalai Saravanan and Vice President Surya.

The evening was addressed by Nico Schiettekatte, Counsellor for Health, Welfare and Sport at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India.

Chief guests included Dr Jyothshna Tirunagari, National Spokesperson, TDP, and President of Samskara Foundation.

Guests of honour included AVM Manoj Kumar Mehra, Vishisht Seva Medal, PhD (Retd); Dr Rakhi Mehra, Professor and Head of Department, Ishan Ayurvedic Medical College and Research Centre, Noida; and Mallika Thangeshwaran, former advisory panel member, New Delhi Region, CBFC, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

India Turns Pink’s Delhi–NCR and project teams took part, including Sarita Chauhan, Vishali, Aarthi, Soundarya, and project coordinators Prithiusha, Preethiga, Brindha and Rolanda.
