LaSalle D. Leffall, Jr., M.D., chair-elect of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation board of directors, testified recently at a joint senate hearing titled "Making Sense of the Mammography Controversy: What Women Need to Know." The hearing, held by Senators Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and Tom Harkin (D-IA), served as a forum to address conflicting studies on the value of screening mammography. Dr. Leffall's testimony reinforced the Komen Foundation's continued recommendation for annual screening mammography for women age 40 and older.
