While on a wonderful trip to St. Barts, I decided to try and go "native" on the beaches to get rid of my tan lines. While appyling liberal amounts of sunscreen, I found a lump in my breast. When I got home, I had it checked out. I had an ultra-sound, another mamogram, and finally a lumectomy. Results: cancer! Doctors say I caught it early, and I have a few options, none which sound good. I'm trying to remain positive and not freak out, some days it's easier than others. Tomorrow, I go for a PET scan. I'm 46 years old, and was in perfect health, not a smoker, not over weight, no family, that I know of, has cancer, so this seems to be just a fluke. |
