| When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, 2005, my greatest concern was for my children (then 8 and 10 years old), and how they would deal with all that was to come. Today, after many surgeries, chemo, radiation, reconstruction, and even a bout of MRSA following my last surgery, we are all healing both physically and emotionally. During those times that were especially difficult on the kids, my husband and I would encourage them to write down what they were feeling. I have found that sharing their experiences haa been very helpful to other children dealing with their mom's breast cancer. I am inviting kids (and teens) to have their experience become part of a collection of stories for children who have a parent being treated for cancer. They can submit their story to nancyjrobinson@cox.net for consideration. I would also like to hear from you and ways you may have helped your child cope with your diagnosis, treatments, etc. Your information could help someone just ready to embark on this long journe |
